Željka Orehovec receives state award

On Statehood Day, Podravka's bowling champion, Željka Orehovec, was presented with the state award for exceptional sporting achievements.

On Statehood Day, Podravka’s bowling champion, Željka Orehovec, was presented with the state award for exceptional sporting achievements. The Danica Order with the image of Franjo Bučar was presented to her by the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Stjepan Mesić, who congratulated her once again for her numerous successful sporting achievements in recent years.

Željka Orehovec is the winner of a number of European and world medals in bowling and a many-time champion of Croatia both in team and individual competitions. Last year she won the World Bowling Championship in Brasov Romania, achieving one of the greatest victories in Croatian sports not only by becoming world champion but also by breaking the world record in combination. The most recent success was recently recorded at the World Championship in Novi Sad where, playing in duo with Marija Zver, she won the team bronze medal, breaking at the same time another world record with 635 knocked down pins.

Željka Orehovec works in Podravka d.d. as a clerk; she is married and has a child. In addition to all her family, business and sporting obligations, she also finds time for social activities, especially those relating to charity.
