Podravka’s “Prof. Zlata Bartl” Foundation has awarded a total of 20 scholarships and grants to undergraduate and postgraduate students for the academic year 2005/2006. This is the second year that the Foundation, which was established in tribute to Vegeta’s inventor, Zlata Bartl, has awarded grants and scholarships to students. Despite the high criteria of the competition this year, around 20% more students applied in comparison with last year.

Undergraduate students meeting the following criteria were eligible for a scholarship or grant:
· if they are younger than 22,
· if they have not failed a year,
· if their grade point average in studies so far is 4.5 or higher.
Postgraduate students meeting the following criteria were eligible for a scholarship or grant:
· if they are younger than 30,
· if their grade point average in undergraduate studies was 4.5 or higher,
· if they have advanced knowledge of two world languages, of which one is English, and advanced knowledge of computers – computer literacy.

Candidates who meet the above criteria are additionally evaluated on their academic results, as the main criterion, research and/or professional papers, the dean’s awards, chancellor’s awards, international awards and professor’s recommendations. If these criteria are equally well met, advantage is given to students who have completed more years of study and to students of disadvantaged socio-economic status.
