Podravka opens representative office for the Baltic States in Riga
Podravka has opened a representative office in Riga, the capital of Latvia, which will also cover Lithuania and Estonia, that is, a total market of 8.5 million people. Vegeta, Podravka Soups and Lino Children's Food are being exported to the Baltic States, where our company is the leading supplier of food seasonings and powdered soups.
At the end of August, the number of Podravka’s representative offices abroad grew by one – a representative office was established in Riga, the capital of Latvia. Besides Latvia, this office will cover the other two Baltic States – Lithuania and Estonia – that is, a market of 8.5 million people. Podravka products have been present in this region for a number of years, ever since the times of the USSR, while direct co-operation dates back to 1993. Vegeta, Podravka Soups and Lino Children’s Food are being exported to the Baltic States, and it is interesting that in this market our company is the leading supplier of food seasonings and powdered soups.
«Our leading position is facing increasingly powerful pressure from the competition, both with expensive and economical products. In order to defend our market share, which we have been building up for many years, we have established a representative office whose main task is to improve relations with distributors and advertising agencies, as well as with retail chains which operate on this market», explains Snježana Sirovec, the Director of Export Planning for the markets of Poland, the Baltic States and Romania.
For the moment, the representative office in Riga has two employees who have arrived from Koprivnica, but the engagement of two local experts is also being planned. This kind of practice has been successful in Podravka’s other representative offices in Germany, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Hungary, Australia, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Russia. The opening of Podravka’s representative office in Riga is another step in the direction of achieving Podravka’s goal of being the leading food production company in Central and Eastern Europe.
