For the third year in a row, Podravka is supporting the humanitarian campaign “Cooking against Mines”, initiated to provide additional resources for demining Croatia. The Croatian Mine Action Centre estimates that there are almost 300,000 mines left in 12 Croatian counties, but there are not enough funds in the state budget to finance the clearing of such a large area since the price of clearing one square metre is HRK 10.96. That is why donations and humanitarian campaigns such as the “Cooking against Mines” campaign contribute to the resolution of this great social problem.

Podravka will support this year’s campaign with HRK 120,000. The sponsorship contract was signed in Zagreb during the first of a series of Cooking against Mines 2006 gastronomy shows. The contract was signed by Romeo Nakić, Marketing Director of Podravka, and Mario Jagatić, Director of the Vemat company, who conceived and runs the project.

The first cooks this year were Ivan Katavić, Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, and the actor Duško Valentić, whose interpretation of Đuka Begović and the engaging story of Vegeta’s inventor, Prof. Zlata Bartl, delighted everyone.
