Podravka and the town of Umag will co-operate in finding the most favourable solution for relocating the Povrće factory which has been operating in this town since 1969.

Podravka and the town of Umag will co-operate in finding the most favourable solution for relocating the Povrće factory which has been operating in this town since 1969. This was agreed during the visit to Podravka of the Mayor of Umag, Ms Floriana Bassanese Radin, the Vice-Mayor, Mr Arlen Brozić, and member of the Executive Council, Mr David Cerovac, when they met the President of the Management Board, Mr Darko Marinac, his deputy, Mr Željko Đurđina, Member of the Management Board, Mr Davor Cimaš, the Executive Director of the business unit Fruit and Vegetables, Mr Milivoj Šifkorn, and the Director of the Povrće factory, Mr Milisav Manjić.

Darko Marinac confirmed the decision of Podravka that the present location in Umag cannot be sustained both for reasons of ecology and the development of tourism, and for reasons of business efficiency. The Mayor, Ms Floriana Bassanese Radin, expressed the interest of the town of Umag in the growth of Podravka, in the development of tomato production in the Umag area, for which significant incentives are provided, as well as in a more suitable content at the present location of the factory, which is situated in the very centre of town. She suggested a new location in the business zone of Umag, and offered the assistance of town experts who would take part in a joint team to work on this project. It is expected that this agreed co-operation will speed up the preparations, and will help to find the best solution both for Podravka and for the local community.
