Darko Marinac is the new President of HR BCSD Management Council

At its 45th session, the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development elected new leaders. Darko Marinac, President of Podravka’s Management Board, was elected as the new President of the Management Council of this renowned not-for-profit organisation, while Gordana Kovačević, President of the Management Board of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, was elected vice-president of the Management Council.

Darko Marinac is one of the founders, as well as the first President of the Management Council of the HR BSCD which has been operating since 1997. Following his new appointment, he stressed that he would continue to engage his efforts in preserving the role of HR BCSD as an elite organisation of the Croatian economy. The main goal of HR BCSD is to encourage and promote sustainable development in the Croatian business community. It constitutes part of a global network made up of national or regional Business Councils for Sustainable Development in developing countries, and of partner organisations. This not-for-profit institution belonging to the private sector brings together some forty members – representatives of the Croatian economy which are a pool of expertise, innovation and accountability in seeking paths of development and in finding a balance among business success, social wellbeing and environmental protection.

This election represents another big confirmation and acknowledgement to Podravka for its contribution so far to the development of the economy, the social community and to the protection of the environment. Podravka’s mission is to do business in the interest of clients and consumers. Therefore, specific activities are conducted within the Business Council for Sustainable Development to affect the existing legislation, to foster an exchange of specific experiences and encourage HR BCSD members to take action with the aim of improving community wellbeing. Two years ago, on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of HR BCSD, Podravka received the HR BCSD Charter for promoting sustainable development, supporting dialogue among the representatives of the business community and civil society, exchanging knowledge and experience, engaging in international cooperation, and building goodwill.

In addition to the above, Podravka is also a full member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the international umbrella organisation which promotes and encourages the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the world economy and the harmonisation of the economy with the development goals of the social community, and the preservation of the environment for future generations.
