In the beginning of July Podravka has become the first Croatian corporate member of the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), and Darko Marinac, president of the Board of Podravka was elected member of the IBLF’s Council shouldering other 55 presidents or board members of leading world companies. Founded in 1990 IBLF is focused on resolving social problems of globalisation, forming partnerships as the most efficient method of including companies into development as well as helping companies in more than 60 countries around the world in finding the best business models of sustainable development.
This year’s gathering of IBLF’s members was held in British Museum in London. Conversing to Darko Marinac, HRH The Prince of Wales, president of this leading world business association, inquired about the economic development of Croatia and its inclusion into international integrations.
President of the Board of Podravka, Darko Marinac, pointed out on this eminent gathering in London that the company over which he is presiding actively promotes the principles of socially responsible and sustainable development.
“Croatia has an energetic population, strategic geographical position and the prospect of EU accession in 2007. Yet there is a danger that inadequate investment, over-reliance on external borrowing and aid, high unemployment and social inclusion will hold us back. If we are to make economic development sustainable, we need to share our resources and skills with all sectors of society and adopt a partnership approach based on equity, transparency and mutual benefit", said Darko Marinac.
