Could you describe your tasks at the company?
I manage the "Customer Support" unit within IT department. Its primary task is to maintain constant access to IT systems and services to the users, no matter where they are. This includes solving and managing user issues and requests, maintaining IT and telecommunication equipment, often coordination between the business side and expert departments within IT sector.
In line with that, my competences are monitoring and optimization of functioning of the department as well as constant advancement and synchronisation of services related to the advancement of technology as well as supporting requests and business processes which are being imposed on Podravka as a modern, multinational company in a turbulent market environment.
What were the jobs that you worked on so far at the company and outside it?
My first job was at the "Rade Končar" Research Institute in Zagreb, and I started working in it 20 years ago. For the first couple of years I was employed as a programmer in the "programming" department, and shortly after the "User support" unit was founded, I took over the managing position, which I am still holding.
Although the unit has undergone a series of transformations since then, I am quite proud of the fact that Podravka was one of the first companies to have an IT support as a function and who recognized the need to care for the end user and the need to bring the IT and telecommunication technologies closer to the users.
For s number of years I participated as a lecturer in Podravka's internal workshops on how to use computers and Microsoft Office products. The purpose of those workshops was to raise the level of knowledge of the employees and to prepare them for challenges of powerful computerization which later started happening globally.
Furthermore, apart from my operating tasks, I am also a project manager or team member in a series of projects in which we try to optimize, rationalize and raise the efficiency of the business processes, within IT department and on Podravka level.
What do you consider the challenges of your work?
The time in which we live and work is featured by very fast progress of the IT and telecommunication technology, and we inevitably must keep up with it, but it is not necessary to implement every change unconditionally. It is therefore important to estimate which technological changes bring business benefits and how to include them and bring them closer to the users with as little stress as possible, for both parties.
In your opinion, what are the advantages of working at Podravka?
Podravka has always been among the leading companies in implementing and application of new technologies – often "the first of the first", and therefore a very desirable working environment. What is more important is that, in spite of that employees have always been in focus and it was not allowed that a man be subordinated to technology.
