Blanka Vlasic has been elected the world's best female athlete in 2010 by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). In the season when she became world's indoor and European champion, the winner of the diamond League and the Continental Cup, won 18 out of 20 meetings and proclaimed the best European female athlete. No other world female athlete could have been a competition. She left behind the resounding names of world athletics: Veronica Campbell, sprinter from Jamaica and Allyson Felix from USA, British heptathlon winner Jessica Ennis and steeplechase champion Milcah Chemos Cheywa.

This award was presented to her at a gala dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, and  Blanka greeted it with the following words: "This is one of my dreams coming true, to be the best athlete of the season, not just in high jump, but taking all disciplines in consideration. This victory means so much to me."

This was Blanka's third nomination for the world's best athlete, and apart from the crystal trophy, the title also brought her EUR 100.000, just like the winner among male competitors, David Rudish from Kenya, world record holder on 800 m.
