What does the term "sustainable development" stand for?

Sustainable development is a complex term which includes the environmental protection component, the social component, and the economic component. The idea of sustainable development was created by linking the different impacts of production and development to the inevitable influence on the broader environment and it consists of balancing between the economic growth, the progress of society and the concern for the environment. The goal of sustainable development is "to meet the needs of the present days and not to endanger the ability of future generations to satisfy their own needs."
